Make a difference in the life of a homeless Veteran today!
Our outstanding staff vigorously embraced our mission of serving Veterans and guiding them to outcomes that included attaining employment, receiving new or enhanced benefits and/or entitlements, and moving into clean, safe and affordable permanent housing.
In March, for the first time in our history, we expanded beyond Bridgeport by opening a six bed home for Veterans experiencing homelessness in West Haven, Connecticut, with a second eight bed home following shortly thereafter. These homes are being operated in collaboration with the Veterans Support Foundation and are blocks away from the VA Medical Center in West Haven.
Also in June, Governor Lamont visited Homes for the Brave headquarters to announce a $1.5 million grant from the State of Connecticut that will be combined with $600,000 from the VA to reconfigure our sleeping quarters by making twelve private rooms with their own restrooms. This project will also include an elevator in our 115 year old headquarters and men’s transitional program and will be completed by September 30, 2023.
We are so honored to serve those who have served all of us and invite you to stand with our Staff and our Board of Directors. Your continued support will be necessary to ensure that our Veterans continue to be supported with honesty, integrity, empathy and comprehensive services that meet their needs.
